ABOUT US
We are Pam & Dave Dormer
We moved to Wales from West London in 2016, and then 4 years ago both decided to retire, Dave was a First Aid trainer and I worked in a veterinary practice in Swansea. We had always wanted to start a home boarding establishment for sighthounds, and then a few of years ago the opportunity to do just that, came about.
We checked with our two resident hounds at the time, Ellie and Poppy if they had any objection to sharing their home with new friends, and they were rather excited about it! Sadly Poppy is no longer with us but we have adopted another super girl called Missy.

Grey Stayz was formed in 2022, opening our doors to the breed we know most about, and offering sighthounds and their humans a friendly and convenient service.
Our guests can expect all the home comforts they would normally receive- comfy beds, cuddles and lovely walks.

BOARDING
We work hard to make sure your hound feels comfortable and relaxed. Whether it’s their first boarding experience, or they’re seasoned regulars, their wellbeing is central to everything we do.
We accept a maximum of two hounds from the same family, however, if your family has one hound and a companion of a different breed we would consider boarding them both, providing they get along with our resident dogs, Ellie and Missy. We prefer to have a meet and greet to introduce them before the stay.
All guest dogs MUST have up to date vaccinations, including Kennel Cough and regular treatment for fleas and worms. (See below)
Grey Stayz will NOT walk dogs off lead. (see below x)
Owner to supply food.

Boarding charges will be calculated per night but hound(s) must be collected before 12 noon or a further charge of £20 will be made for each dog.

DAYCARE
Daycare is one of our more popular services, especially for repeat clients. We pride ourselves on our professional yet fun approach, and do everything necessary to ensure your pets are safe, secure and happy.
Day Care would normally be from 09:00 to 17:00 but of course alternative timings can be negotiated.

Under certain circumstances we can collect and return your dog in our comfy estate car.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Dogs will NOT be walked off lead during a normal walk, however we do have an option for dogs who do need a good run, to hire a secure, safe and private enclosure nearby to let off steam.

Charges will be agreed prior to booking.

A deposit of 30% is taken at the time of booking and will be retained in the event of a cancellation by the customer within 14 days of the booked date. Booking will not be confirmed until the deposit is paid.

Full Balance is due prior to drop off.

It is a requirement of our licence that all dogs boarded with us MUST have full vaccinations including Kennel Cough and regular treatment for fleas and worms.

Your emergency contact has permission to make decisions regarding the pet's health and is able to collect the dog should the need arise.

If neither you nor your emergency contact is contactable, you agree for the pet carer to make decisions regarding the pet's health providing that they are in the best interests of the animal, following the advice of a qualified vet. Upon your return, you agree to pay any vet bills incurred.

You agree to your dog(s) being homed with the household dogs.

We require a “meet and greet” prior to the dog’s stay, to ensure compatibility and non-aggression with the household dogs.

Please note we do not accept unneutered males, bitches in season or dogs under 6 months old for Home Boarding.

Some important information
Why do we insist your dogs are vaccinated?
It is part of our licence obligation to ensure all boarding dogs have the appropriate vaccinations.

Parvovirus, Hepatitis, Leptospirosis and Distemper
Many dogs receive these vaccinations as puppies and then further booster vaccinations throughout their lives. Some vaccinations need annual boosters others have a three-year life. You should check with your vet when your dog's boosters are due.
If you are considering boarding your dog with us, we require a copy of the vaccination certificate, which must include cover for the above and Kennel Cough. If your dog has not been vaccinated before, then they cannot be boarded with us until 7-14 days after vaccination. If your dogs’ vaccinations have lapsed and the course needs to be started again, we cannot board your dog until 10 days after the boosters have been given. This is to protect your dogs and our resident dogs.
Vaccines against Kennel Cough are often not part of a routine vaccination programme unless you plan to place your dog in a boarding establishment like ours, where it is part of the licence requirements, and you will be asked to provide proof.
Kennel Cough can have several causes but the main culprits are Bordetella Bronchiseptica and Canine Parainfluenza. There are two vaccines available, Nobivac KC which protects against both forms and Intrac which is a nasal spray and protects against Bordetella Bronchiseptica.
Dogs cannot be boarded with us until after 10 clear days of the KC vaccination being given.
